It is hard to believe that Tea Party members dislike Obama so much. People overseas must wonder what Sara Palin and others like her mean when they say they are going "take the country back".
Back to what? Have these people been taught anything real about American history?!!!
For instance do they know how many hours workers had to work a week, and the horrible conditions they had to work in ,before labor unions.
The tea party people are unhappy with the economy and a black president. Why else would they vote for a party that said 'No" to everything, every idea that was put on the table in Washington this last year and a half.
That's right its only been a year and a half sense the first Black President of the United States was elected.
Despite the outcome of the election in November, time cannot be turned back. Progress can maybe be delayed but never defeated.
Unemployment in the United States is over 9%. The corporations who outsourced all of the jobs causing the unemployment are giving money to the Republicans. Some people seem to think that whats good for corporations is good for the country,I wonder why? Corporations have always fought to reduced or eliminate wages.
Thomas Jefferson believed that the masses needed to be "educated" in order to vote intelligently.
Thomas Jefferson believed that the masses needed to be "educated" in order to vote intelligently.
Of course Jefferson while brilliant was a confused man. His monetary situation ,he was always in debt, made his actions conflict with his professed beliefs, his personal life was a mess. But he knew the role that ignorance could play in the possible destruction of this country. With regards to a public education bill,he wrote:
I think by far the most important bill in our whole code, is that for the diffusion of knowledge among the people. No other sure foundation can be devised for the preservation of freedom and happiness... The tax which will be paid for this purpose is not more than the thousandth part of what will be paid to kings, priests and nobles who will rise up among us if we leave the people in ignorance. --Thomas Jefferson to George Wythe, 1786.
